NFL Playoffs//Divisional Round Predictions/ Looking In

So we just got over the first weekend of the NFL Playoffs. With my predictions, I went 1-3.

I realized there is no true way to predict the outcome of the game, because SO MUCH can happen. Either injuries, defenses failing, or a team not showing up..*ahem*......what..i didn't say anything.

As tweeted on Sunday, all of the games appeared to be completely one sided, and that in my opinion has to be the most boring thing to watch. UNTIL sunday night when I turned on the Arizona and Green Bay game.

Even though my predictions were off it won't stop me from making some bold predictions. But before I can even do that, I can't walk away from the New England Patriots that easily! Now, you all know, we got humiliated on our home turf. It was ugly when the first ball was snapped. 24-0 after the first quarter. Our O line wasn't on their best game--Brady wasn't aloud to sit back and relax in pocket for long at all (as he normally would). Almost every snap was rushed. Our defense had a slow start, but what do you expect, the offense turned the ball over so many times on their own end. The ONLY sigh of relief was Julian Edelman who proved to be an enormous bright player to look forward to for our franchise. But every season, except for last season, since 2004, ended in disappointment. Last year wasn't because Tom Brady was out for the season, and therefore no one was expecting much out of Matt Cassell. All I know is, Bellichick is going to very busy this offseason. We need a pass rusher, BADLY. Look for a possible addition of Julius Peppers..We have some good upcoming young cornerbacks in Wilhite and Butler. And the obvious, our running back. I can see the Patriots using their first round pick they received in the Seymour deal on a possibly running back that can produce and bring a running threat to this team. The last time we had an effective running game was probably in 2001 with Antoine Smith. Yeah, it's been a while. :(

But moving on!

So we have some great games this weekend. I have decided there will be some upsets in the air.
First up is Arizona at New Orleans. Decisions Decisions. Arizona, whyy do you need to confuse everyone! Are you guys for real or is this some fluke you guys like to put on during big games. We all have realized it, Arizona is unpredictable. Too unpredictable. I don't think i've ever seen a game where both defenses CAN'T stop the other teams offense. But I believe things won't happen like that again against New Orleans. Look, the Saints have dropped off towards the end of the season. In my eyes, they're a team that dies out. I like Arizona, they proved they can make some noise again. I like Arizona in this upset. Sorry New Orleans, you were untouchable at first, it couldn't last though:

Cardinals: 34
Saints:      28

Saturday night we have the Ravens who blew out the Patriots last weekend. Theyre a sneaky team. They had a non existant passing game, and still managed to score 33 points against the Patriots. The Ravens will make there way to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Colts. The Colts have to be the best team in the NFL right now. The Ravens have a solid defense, but broken down secondary. The Ravens have Ed Reed. The Colts have Peyton Manning. It's enough said right there. I'm pretty sure by now that Indianapolis has been watching film, and come to realization that they only have a running game. Their offense is RAY RICE. You shut him down, you get the win. Peyton Manning will outsmart any defense and come through (large or small deficit) in the last quarter to pull off a win. What happens with the Colts is if you score, they will score right back, and if you punt the ball, they will go back up on you. So:

Ravens: 17
Colts: 24

Next we have good Ol' Brett Favre. They will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys. I predict for this to be a great game. The Vikings have been so great all season but like New Orleans they kind of fell off at the end of the season. Dallas on the other hand has been proving themselves. They beat the undefeated Saints. They turned December into a winning month. And they won their first playoff game. I can hear it now "nooo. don't say it." Cowboys come in and upset the Vikings. There. I said it. When you have momentum there's no stoppin ya'. Comeon guys it happened in baseball, and the Yankees had 4 games to just win ONE out of them. and they couldn't do it. With football it comes down to one game, and ANYTHING can happen. Brett Favre and Brad Childress have been a little sour towards eachother towards the end of the season. The Cowboys defense is tough. They will make Favre rushed constantly, possibly causing bad throws, that are turnovers. I wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota were to win. But my guess is for the Cowboys to win in overtime. Romo to Austin.

Cowboys: 26
Vikings:   20

Next is the J-E-T-S against the Chargers. The Chargers have been a Super Bowl favorite of mine since the beginning of the season. But Phillip Rivers and the Chargers are just too hard to compete with. Mark Sanchez wasn't his usual form last weekend (INT Galore) so this game will truly test this rookie QB if he can compete against a dominant team. These two teams had an amazing wild card playoff game years back, the Chargers won in OT. On the offensive side of the ball for the Chargers they have a dominant passing game. A clutch quarterback. and an elusive backfield with LT and Sproles. New York on offense has Dustin Keller (99 yards last week) and a pretty decent running game. Number one defense in the league against an all around San Diego offense should be something incredible to watch for. These teams are going to battle hard, but I see this game coming down to a 1 minute drive down the field kicking the 4th quarter game winning field goal as time expires. Phillip Rivers is a true leader, and you will see that displayed this weekend:

Jets: 24
Chargers: 27

So even though i think about two people read my blogs, get @ me on Twitter @Jerm_Weiner and let me know what you think of my predictions. Agree? Disagree? and why. I'll listen.
