The Road To The Superbowl Predictions

Well who would've known! For the first time this playoff, I predicted every game..even though there were only two. But they were both pretty good games. And the Super Bowl should be even better.

I'll be recapping this past weekend, talking about the boring Pro Bowl, and making my final Super Bowl predictions in this post:

The Jets against Indy. I'll be honest with you, I was afraid the Jets were going to pull it off at first. When Mark Sanchez was marching down the field and Braylon Edwards finally was making plays,  I felt as if their defense could hold them off. But who was I to kid?! We have Peyton Manning going up against the number one defense in the NFL and clearly..he was the better option. Congrats to the New York Jets for a surprisingly good year. The INT rate calmed down a little bit in the playoffs (2 INTs 4 TD's). Rex Ryan has this team going in a good direction. The Colts have too many weapons, Garcon, Colley, and Clark..plus their defense is pretty solid as well with their injured secondary. It stood out with the bomb Sanchez through to Edwards for a touchdown, and heads up to the Colts, but if you want to beat Drew Brees to win the Super Bowl you're gonna have to make that a threat because it will be bombs away with him.

The Vikings against the Saints. What a game that was. Makes you wonder, if the turnovers weren't much of a factor for the Vikings, would they be traveling down to Miami this week instead of the Saints? Without question.  Could this be Favre's last game he played? I don't think so. With Minnesota's success, and the ability to mature younger players, Brett Favre should be coming back to play one more year. Why would he want to end his career AGAIN on a pick thrown in the NFC championship game. Plus what would the media talk about every single week without Brett Favre in the league?! Drew Brees was great in the game, and the Saints D conquered every turnover that happened. If they play some stingy defense they could see a ring in their future.

The Pro Bowl is this week. Who watches the Pro Bowl? I don't. It has no meaning, no significance to the future of any team. In baseball the All Star Game determines home field advantage in the World Series, and in basketball it's a whole weekend off for players mid season, with a bunch of fun activities (Horse, Dunk Contest, All Star Game). Now to get more viewers, this was a good move by the NFL, because a lot of fans can't live without a week of football..so now they have something to tune into. But from a players standpoint, it's unfair. These guys earned the chance to play in this year's Pro Bowl and now won't get the opportunity to play since they'll be getting ready for more important things. I know you're probably saying so what they have the Super Bowl to get ready for..but what about the loser of the Super Bowl? They're going to be hating life with a Super Bowl loss, an extremely late draft pick, and no chance to play in the Pro Bowl. Apparently this won't be staying next year, but some changes need to be made to make both the viewers AND the players wanting to watch or participate in.

Now this is random Super Bowl question. Why is it played in the tropical lands of warm weather? Comeon football is playing in the cold, the snow, the mud and the rain. Who would love to see them have a Super Bowl up North like in New England or Chicago fore say? I think they should change that in the future, because the champion of the NFL should be able to play in any type of weather. With both of these teams they're home stadium is a dome, now they get to play in warm weather that makes it no different from home. Switch it up a bit to let everyone know who the true football champions are.

Now down to business. My Super Bowl pick. Put a lot of thinking into it. At one point in the season these two teams were the only two undefeated teams in the NFL. The Colts layed down on the last couple games, to rest starters and the Saints lost their last 3 to under .500 teams and the Cowboys. The Colts could easily be undefeated right now. And it reminds me of *shivers** 2007. The 18 and whoops season for the Patriots. The Saints are going to pumped, Who Dat nation is going to stand up. It's going to be a hell of a game. The ball will be bombing away in the air for each posession. It will lay on the defense. I could see this coming down to one of the best Super Bowl's of years past. The Colts are clearly the Super Bowl favorites, no one can stop Peyton Manning. But also, can Drew Brees be stopped? I think its very rare that the Saints will stop Mr. Manning, but will the broken down Indy secondary shut down Drew Brees? Decisions, Decisions..
it will be a back and forth game. It won't be a blowout unless one of the teams don't show up to play. It will be coming down to the wire. A last minute drive. 28-28, until Hartley will get another shot to top his fairy tale ending 2 weeks before.

Colts:  28
Saints: 31

Saints win! ..and i want them to win.

What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree? Let me hear it.

*And btw, this isn't my last blog since the NFL season is ending. I love to talk about NBA and MLB stories, stats. So stay tuned to this blog!

Thanks to my trillions of readers. :)

I'm not sure who I want to win the super bowl yet, I'm just hoping that it will be a high scoring game. I would also like to see the Super Bowl played in different climates, kinda like when the Colts played the Bears and it starting raining. There had to be adjustments and that's what football is about. Can somebody remind me of what happened in 07 to the Pats and their undefeated season? I forget...... :)
